Best Breakfast & Brunch in Mykonos

One of the first things I do when I'm on holiday is research cafes and breakfast joints. I love mornings, peaceful and quiet, before the traffic starts. The people you meet in the mornings, especially in Mykonos, are either those who are coming back from partying, families with small children, or early risers like myself. Now when I say morning I'm referring to 8:00 - 11:00am. I had to clarify that because Greeks are not early risers, lol. When I make coffee plans with my Greek friends, they call me at 12:00pm, "Ellie I'm ready to meet you for breakfast/coffee". Hunny it's noon, almost time for lunch! lol. With that being said, finding a cafe that serves a real breakfast and not just toast with coffee, is challenging in Mykonos. Most people who stay at 4/5 star hotels have breakfast included in their stay. Others go out for breakfast and are limited to 3 nice cafes. Nice meaning, healthy clean delicious breakfast/brunch menus, the American way, or maybe just the Ellie way.

Bowl Mykonos

Liberty the Breakfast Room is located in the western part of Mykonos, right off the peripheral road next to Starbucks. This cozy cafe is open all day but is most busiest for breakfast as its only one of its kind on the island. The interior gives me Soho NYC vibes but with a bonus of beautiful sea views and yummy local food. They actually have the best scrambled eggs I've ever tried! Moist, fluffy, with a hint of truffle = heaven!

I recommend getting to Liberty before 10:30am, otherwise you'll be on the waitlist for a table. It's the breakfast hangout so it gets crowded quickly!

Bowl Mykonos is my favorite healthy eatery in Mykonos. The owners use seasonal local produce and are the nicest people! Their menu includes mostly bowls, juices, coffee - vegan, vegetarian, fish, and free-range chicken paired with a superfood and herbs. If I had to choose one word to describe Bowl it would be "refreshing". Everything from the menu to the interior design of the restaurant is refreshing. Decorated with beautiful live plants and earthy tones, there is both outdoor and indoor seating. Try the "Green Breiki Bowl" and "Chai Latte with oat milk" - DIVINE. Also their avocado toast with everything bagel seasoning is fire too!

I Frati Mykonos is conveniently located in the western part of Mykonos, a few meters off the peripheral road towards Mykonos Town. Its a 2 level all day restaurant that serves Italian food. The top level offers beautiful sea views, especially during sunset.

I Frati Mykonos

Like I say in all my posts, everything you do in Mykonos depends on the wind. The same goes for choosing which restaurant/cafe to go to. If the north wind is strong (25-35 mph, I do not recommend Liberty Breakfast Room as it's very windy and you're limited to indoor dining, which fills up very quickly.

There are many other cafes that serve breakfast and open early in the morning. The restaurants mentioned above are just personal preferences. Before I recommend a place be it food or drinks, it goes through the Ellie checklist: service, quality of food/drink, location, cleanliness, and vibe.
