Easy Mouthwatering Sauteed Broccoli Recipe

15 Minute easy broccoli recipe. Ideal vegetarian flavorful lunch and dinner recipe.

I absolutely love broccoli, in all forms, chilled or hot, raw or cooked, I just love it. Growing up my mother cooked a fresh meal everyday. Almost everyday we had either meat, chicken, or fish paired with a grain or carbohydrate. All of my mother's cooking is delicious, but, we eventually got bored of eating the same traditional foods so we started trying different asian inspired recipes, most of which include vegetables like broccoli, string beans, snow peas, and basically anything crunchy. Since then I've been eating broccoli at least once a week. Sometimes raw in salads, steamed, pickled, or sauteed. Specifically this recipe I'm sharing is the most liked dish in my home. Super easy to make, full of flavor yet simple, nutritious, and filing. I often serve it hot as I like all my food hot, but it can easily be served cold/room temp. The rare times I have leftover, I put it in the fridge and toss into a salad the next day, so easy, and so good!

Broccoli Hack: I like to soak my broccoli in vinegar and water for 5 minutes, it gets all the tiny bugs and icky stuff out. Rinse the broccoli with plain water after you soak it. Use the whole broccoli! The trunk is the most delicious part :).

Ingredients

  • 1 broccoli bunch (medium size)

  • 2 garlic cloves

  • 3 tablespoons Sesame oil

  • ¼ olive oil

  • Spice: salt pepper cumin

Step 1: Cut up broccoli

Separate the head of the broccoli from the trunk.

Cut up broccoli heads in medium chunks ( about 2 inches long).

Peel the outermost layer of the truck so that the sides of the trunk are smooth and look like stalks of celery.

Cut the trunk in half and thinly slice. The thinner its cut, the less crunchy it'll be once cooked.

Step 2: Garlic

Peel and finely dice 2 cloves of garlic.

*Do not use garlic paste/powder as substitute, it changes the flavor entirely.

Step 3: Sauteing

Head up oil on medium heat and toss in the cut up broccoli.

Step 4: Sauteing

Add the diced garlic and spices in the pan with the broccoli.

Saute and mix occupationally for 4 mins.

Serve with rice, buckwheat, couscous, pasta, or just as a side dish.

How to store the leftovers

The sauteed broccoli holds its freshness for up to 4 days refrigerated, perfect for meal prepping! Use glass tupperware, it lasts longer and tastes better.
